Can I track the date a ticket changed to a certain status? We are trying to get a measurement of how long ticket remaining in testing status. Is there a way I can track this with current field or would I need to create a field to populate a date based on a status change
Hello @Danielle Cantrell
JIRA does keep track of status changes in the History of an issue, but the native functionality for querying issue history is very limited.
You can find third party apps that will help you report on the time issues spend in statuses. Here is a search from the Marketplace.
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=time%20in%20status
If you don't want to use a third party app, then you would need to define custom field(s) to track the information and you could use automation rules to update the custom fields during issue transitions.
Tx. Yes, I thought I could do that...but just saw some of the 3rd party apps that I'm going to loo into. Tx for the help

Hey @Danielle Cantrell ,
You can also check this free App : https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1222051/status-time-free?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
It's free unless you need to export data, then you will have to go to the paid version, Status Time.
Hope it helps,
Guilhem
