Creating Child Issues in an Epic in different project types

In my org, we have many projects, most of which are "Company Managed" projects & some of which are "Team Managed" projects.

We have seen that, with Company Managed projects, we can create child issues across projects (For example, EPIC ABC-123 has a child issue DEF-456, and maybe some others).

We have also seen that on Team managed projects, this doesn't seem to work. For example, team project GHI has an EPIC GHI-789, and I want to DEF-456 to be a child of that EPIC.

I just want to confirm that this maybe is not working because of the different project types (company managed vs team managed). We can still create links across company managed <> team managed projects, so this threw me for a loop.

That is correct. TMP doesn’t have the concept of Epic link. The relationship between stories and epics in TMP is very different than that of CMP.

Thanks, @Jack Brickey ! The theory made sense to me based on the behavior. Thanks for confirming!
