Custom Wiki Textfield: Set pre-formatted default text

I defined a custom multiline text field, set its renderer to Wiki Style and also set some default value using markdown notation. 

When used in an issue, I can see that the text field is indeed a rich wiki editor, however, the default value is literal and not formatted/ the markup was not interpreted.

Is there a way to make Jira use the default text and interpret the markdown notation so that I have a pre-formatted default value in the multiline text field?
