I would need to add a custom field to set the job type for the time period that is being inserted in the Time Tracking form. This way we would not need to manually write in the description field.

Is this allowed somehow?

Hello Miguel,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Per your description, I understand that you would like to identify which is the type of work you are doing when you log a new worklog entry in your Jira Issues. Is it correct?

Unfortunately, Jira does not have the functionality to add custom fields or any details in the description of worklog entries, however, we understand how this functionality would be useful and created a feature request to get it implemented in JIRA:

Add type of work in Log work

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

Although we don't have an inbuilt option to achieve your need right now, the feature request provides some plugins that offer some workarounds for your issue. like:

With Tempo for JIRA you can enrich the worklog data with multiple elements such as: type of work, responsible parties, client and more. Check it out Tempo Timesheets

The WorklogPRO add-on supports work log attributes and timesheet reports based on these attributes. You may give it a try.

Tracking Estimation for JIRA Also provide you with the ability to log work and other attributes as you need.

Let me know if this information helps.
