I have been looking for information about how to do this, but I haven't been able to get to the right answer. What I need is a filter that shows all of the tasks that passed from the "In Progress" Swimlane to "Done".
I need this to show all of the movements, even if something went from "In Progress" to "Done" and then it came back to "In Progress" and again to "Done". So the result should show 2 movements in that case.
Is it possible to do it? Do I need a special Gadget to achieve this?
Thanks in advance!
Hi, @Dani Bonilla - welcome to the Community!
You don't need a special gadget to create this filter; it's standard JQL.
At its most basic, you would use this search:
status changed from "In Progress" to "Done"
You can then add any additional clauses you need, like date (changed before a specific date) or project = whatever.
Thanks a lot, Esther. Your answer was super useful!
I would like to ask you something else. Is it possible to track movements to different lanes/status at once?
Let's say From "To Do" to "In Progress" and from "To Do" to "Done" on the same chart/gadget. Is that possible?

Hello @Dani Bonilla ,
If you are OK with using a marketplace app for this, our team at OBSS built Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira for this. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.
Time in Status mainly has several types of time reports (showing how much time each issue spent on each status, assignee, or group) but the app also has Status Count and Transition Count reports. These reports show how many times each status and each transition was used by each issue.
For Status Count report, you can even sort and filter the report data based on status counts. In other words, you can easily find the issues that visited a status, did not visit a status or visited a status more than once, twice, etc.
For all numeric report types, you can calculate averages and sums of those values grouped by the issue fields you select. Grouping by parts of dates (year, month, week, day, hour) or sprints is particularly useful here since it allows you to compare different time periods or see the trend. (The screenshot below shows a trend report sample for durations but you can do the same for status or transition counts)
The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well. It supports both Company Managed and Team Managed projects.
Time in Status reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs. All these options can provide both calculated data tables and charts.
And the app has a REST API so you can get the reports from Jira UI or via REST.

Hi @Dani Bonilla,
You can do this by using the Control Chart gadget offered by our Great Gadgets app.
This gadget displays the issues from a filter by their cycle time, configurable at your choice. You can configure it to calculate and display the issues that had a cycle from "In progress" to "Done".
All you need is to configure the gadget to use a simple Jira filter that returns the issues from your project. So no advanced JQL is needed in this case.
This gadget offers a Data tab with detailed info about the issues that you can export in CSV. If an issue had 2 cycles, they both will be listed in the report.
Another option would be to just display the Count of the issues. You can easily do this by using the Issue Filter Formula gadget or the Advanced Issue Filter Formula gadget offered by the same app.
For this, create a Jira filter like the one mentioned by Esther and configure one of these gadgets to calculate COUNT for that filter.
With this app you can track projects of type Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Service Desk, Customer Support, ITSM. For more details, see the articles from our blog.
Hope this helps. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at support@stonikbyte.com.
Thank you,

You can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.
Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. For your case, you can have a look at Status Count And Entry Dates report. Entry date(see In Development, Ready for Testing, In Testing, In Development columns.) is status transition date and status count(see #In Development, #Ready for Testing, #In Testing, #In Development columns) is how many times an issue is entered to this status.
For further details, you can have a look at Status Time Reports How to Videos.
If you are looking for a completely free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Reports Free.
