Customize cards not showing custom field

I'm trying to customize the board view on my team-managed project by customizing the cards.

I have a custom numeric field created called "score" that does not show up on the customized cards filtering options. I want to use this numeric score to rank the tickets vertically in the column based off of the score. I do however have some other custom fields that do show up in the customize cards filtering section.

Does anyone know why I can't see this custom, numeric field called "score" but I can see other custom fields in the customize cards view?

Hello @Frank

Yes, it makes a difference if you are using software vs. business project types. Which type are you using?

Not all custom field types are available for card customization in a Business project. I have not yet found a document that provide a definition for what is and is not available.

You can't change the field being used to order issues vertically in the columns of a board for a Business project. The issues are ordered by a field called Rank which Jira sets automatically as you drag and drop the issues.

You can't change that in a Team Managed Software project either.

Technically you can change it in a Company Managed Software project board, because those boards are based on saved filters that you can edit. You could edit the filter to change the ORDER BY clause. However there are features of Business projects (like List, Calendar, and Timeline) that are not available for Software projects.

Another alternative is for you to simply make an additional board based on the Business project. If you make an additional board then it will behave like the board of a Company Managed Software project. This article discusses the process for making such additional boards:

Hi @Frank

Unfortunately, this feature is not available in a Team-managed project, there is currently a suggestion open to improving the Board's view and filters.

Hi Sam, if I were to switch this to a Company-managed project would that allow me to do what I'm looking for? Also does the software versus business project types affect what I'm trying to do as well?

Hi @Frank

Yes, in a Company-managed project you can customize the Board view and add the custom fields that you need.

Best regards

Sam - I've got the same problem.  How can I tell if I'm using a Company-managed project or a Team-managed project?

@William Heye

Go to the View All Project page, under the Projects menu. Find you project in the list. Look at the Type column. That will tell you the type of the project.
