I want to ask very short question. And I even don't want to explain you ( guys from Jira or Community managers why you are stupid asking questions why people don't like this feature. Much people in world don't know eng. perfect and click on description to copy link or translate desc. nm... )
So my question is based on answers here :
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Disable-click-to-edit/qaq-p/1003485
and here:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-64389
The answers is like ( all love it we cant change it the demand is Low ) . Could you pls show me you google result, where after asking how to "disable click to edit" you see something like " fc you its cool feature" all google tell me hundreds people like that they hate this feature and i did not find any who like it.
Statistics really? I am working in IT near 10 years. and using Jira many years but this is fist time i found time to write here something. I cant check all community for all tools and library i use in my work, so i google it, and when i google it did not find who love it.
There answers in a post was like Atlassian do best so explain why you want to disable it. So can Atlassian show why i need to love it and who love it and ask to do that?
Community moderators have prevented the ability to post new answers.
I hope you feel a bit better now after that little vent. 😉 Welcome to the Atlassian community, by the way!
I'm not trying to sugarcoat things here, but inline editing is the only way to edit content in the new issue view. I'm sure you know that based on your research so far. And I am also aware that the new Issue view has caused mixed reactions. You could do very nice things with the old structure across different screens. I still miss it very much. but let's face it, it was also significantly more difficult administratively. I've been a user of Atlassian tools myself for ten years, I don't agree with or understand every design decision, but you are free to use the possible channels for feedback.
If you want to bring this to Atlassian's attention, feel free to vote on this issue:
I'm sure that's what you were looking for as you're on cloud. Vote for that issue, spread the word, and maybe they'll change it or introduce new options 🤷🏼♂️
Best, Max
P.S. Try to stick around here. It's a nice place to meet people and learn. And you'll also find people with whom you can blow off a little steam and rant. That's part of it. ;) Just try to stay friendly and constructive.
Inline editing is fine - but for heavens sake, please make it configurable how to trigger the editing!
Would it hurt your developers that much to place a pencil-icon next to/above/below the description and other fields?
Whenever I need to copy/paste some text from an issue description, I end up in edit mode. This is IMHO the most annoying feature in Jira.
Although you claim that a lot of people silently like this, the number of conversations on this forum seems to claim otherwise.
