Does Time Tracking at the Sub-Task Level update the Burndown chart?

Does Time Tracking at the Sub-Task Level to update the Burndown chart?  Or does Time Tracking work at the Story Level?

The Team have been asked to record time estimate at task level to provide a more accurate burndown chart. 

However we are having issue getting the burndown chart to work correctly.  We are currently adding and updating time estimate at the Sub-task level.  Do we need to update the Story or does the "Include subtasks" check box on the story do this for us?  As we have seen some strange values with this flagged when looking at the story on the board.

Story Points on subtasks are not included in the Burndown Chart. (Only Story Points on parent tasks are included.)

Refer: 

• View and understand the burndown chart

"Include subtasks"checkbox on the Story issue simply shows the sum of sub-task estimates on the Story view.
