×Is there any way to edit 'team' field in sub-tasks? I understand the concept that a team owns the parent task and therefore also own the child tasks however we way wee are currently structured means we use this feature to track pieces of work that teams outside of the squad also need to contribute to.
The majority of the time we assign a parent task but on occasions we need to assign sub-tasks so these can be viewed on both teams boards
Thanks
It appears that the team field may be a custom field. If you want to use this field on the subtask you simply need to add the field to the screen associated with the subtask.
No afraid that's not it, the field exists on a substask but can't be edited - no drop down appears it just included 'none'

Got it. So I now see that you are on Premium and Teams is associated with Advanced Roadmaps.
disclaimer- I don’t use advanced programs currently. With that said it is my understanding that the teams field cannot be edited independently within subtasks. The reason is that the subtasks are really tightly coupled to the parent and the parent should belong to a team which includes all underlying subtasks.

In fact, I just saw that there is another post referenced under Related Community Content on this page - Team-Field-not-editable-in-Sub-tasks . It indicates the same.

Hello, @Claire Lowry-Hubball !
I didn't quite understand your question. Could you give us more details? Maybe a screen shot of the team field will help. What is the expected result? What is the current result?
Cheers!

Attached is the team field, in a user story we get our drop down of shared teams but in a subtask this field is not editable

Ok, let's go!
The Team field is a custom field unique to Jira Software Premium. Are you a project or site administrator?
What we need to check first: Subtask editing screen.
Go to: project settings > screens.
You will see something like this:
Note that you have: Create item screen, Edit item screen and View item screen.
A possible cause for your problem is that there are different screens for the subtasks and the time field is not in the edit screen.
Click on the subtask edit screen and add the time field:
If you do not have permission for this, you should contact the Jira Administrator.
I hope I've helped!
Cheers!

Watching the response from @Jack Brickey , I advise working with linked items.
You can learn more about it here https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/link-an-issue/

Yeah I'm not a fan of linking in this scenario, its just creating duplicate tickets which is more admin.
Regarding your initial response, I am the JIRA admin and can confirm the 'team' field is in all the 'create' 'view' and 'edit' screens so thats not the problem.

I understand perfectly.
As a workaround, you can create a new custom Time field and use it in subtasks.
