History of change in Status in JIRA

Dear Team,

Anyone of you aware how I can get the status change date of issue in query.

Like if I want to know when a particular request was moved to Execution from Customer Approval status.

I tried some

The field “Status Category Change” is not helping as it considers Intake and Execution both as In Progress. So it gives the same old date.

But when I go inside in the History of issue it shows 12-Oct. How can I get this date in query so that I can get multiple results at same time.

Hello @Anuradha Yadav

You can try Time in Status for Jira Cloud. This add-on generates different types of time reports. One of them is the Status Entrance Date report, which shows the date an issue has entered each status.  So you will be able to view when the issue moved to Execution from Customer Approval status.

Also another app Issue History can help you monitor all changelog, including statuses transitions (when and by who were made)

Hope you find it helpful.

Best regards.

Hello @Anuradha Yadav ,

You can see this data for individual issues under each issue's History tab.

I am afraid there is no out-of-the-box way to display this data as a column in Issue Search page. In order to to this, you would need to do some heavy lifting. You would probably create custom date fields to hold each date you are interested in and modify your workflows (probably using a marketplace app) to copy the date of transition to that field. It is a lot of work and also hard to maintain.

For a ready built solution that offers great fexibility and details, our team at OBSS built Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira app. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud and Data Center.

Time in Status allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status or assigned to each assignee as well as entry/exit dates for all statuses. You can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by issue fields you select. (For example see the average InProgress time per project and per issuetype). You can also combine statuses into consolidated columns to see metrics like AgeCycle Time or Lead Time.

The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so you don't have to modify your workflows and when you install the app, you can get reports on your past issues as well.

Using Time in Status you can:

  • See how much time each issue spent on each status, assignee, user group and also see dates of status transitions.
  • Calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by issue fields you select. (For example see average InProgress time per project and per issuetype.)
  • Export your data as XLS, XLSX or CSV.
  • Access data via REST API.
  • Visualize data in various chart types.
  • See Time in Status data under each issue in Time in Status tab.
