How do I assign a team to a story?

Ricardo Schmadalla July 2, 2021

Dear Community,
I have created a new team in my roadmap under the "Team" tab and given it a weekly working time.

My goal is to assign stories to this team. However, I have only found out how to assign stories to individual team members.

What is the purpose of a created team if this is not possible?

I would be very pleased to receive an answer!

Hi @Ricardo Schmadalla !

You can't assign a whole issue to a team. Assignee can only be one user. In order to assign a team, you need to either

  • use a multi user picker field and select each individual member, or
  • create a group from user management, assign those members to this group, use a group field on you issue and include this group to the notification scheme.

However in comments you can mention a whole team by selecting the "@" and then the team name.

Hello Alex, thank you very much for your answer.

That's a pity that it doesn't work.

I thought it was possible to distribute the weekly working time of a team among the different tasks.

Why is there the function of weekly capacity if you can't use it further?

Basically, I want to derive my resource needs from the roadmap. Do you see any other way to do this?

Ricardo

If you have the Premium plan of Jira you will be able to use this feature as stated here:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/advancedroadmapscloud/teams-998650939.html

But since you are running on a standard plan, this is not possible out of the box.
