How do I enable advanced search?

Dave Brennan August 29, 2023

Jira Cloud help implies there should be a way to turn on advanced search, but I don't see this anywhere. The tooltip for searching by teams also tells me this but unhelpfully doesn't provide any way to get to advanced mode. Where is this hiding and why doesn't the documentation match the product?

There are a couple of ways to get to the new search experience, depending on what project you are using. In JSW if you go to the project and click Issues on the left it will take you to it. From here you can either use the Basic search to get started and then switch over to JQL (Advanced)

Or start with the JQL directly.

And as you can see, my instance also have access to Atlassian Intelligence which can create the JQL for you.

Hi @Dave Brennan

Adding to Mikael's answer...

"Advanced issue search" was renamed to "View All Issues" in some places (and just "JQL" in others), and so suggested tips may have been missed in some application info.

You may also find the search from the top navigation bar: Filters > View All Issues

Kind regards,
Bill
