How to add html in description when creating issue using Jira REST API?

When I'm trying to add hyperlinks in the issue description through Jira REST API, it is appearing as normal text only. How can I add links in the description through REST API?

I think only wiki markup can be used
e.g.
"*bold* text in description and link [link title|http://example.com]"
