Is there any way to define how/where fields are displayed in an issue view?
In particular, we have some additional open ended fields that the project owner would like to be displayed after the description field.
It requires code to significantly re-arrange the display on the view screen, so no, you can't do this.
JIRA's view moves the "system" fields into a panel, pulls out dates and user-related fields into their own panels and then places the rest in another "custom field" panel. You can order the fields that end up in the custom field panel, but that's about it as far as layout goes.
