How to retrieve the user displayname from a custom field?

Hi There

I have created a custom field of type : user picker

I want to include the username value of the field in an email, and have tried {{issue.customfield_xxxxx}} but all it returns is the guid (62f0dee05111209f4fdff366), instead of the actual display name of the user.

Can anyone offer advice what I am doing wrong please?

PS: 

Oh and I have also tried {{issue.datahandler.displayName}}, where 'Data Handler's is the name of the custom field mentioned above.

Add a space between Data Handler -> {{issue.Data Handler.displayName}}. This works for me.
