How to schedule tasks outside current sprint on Jira Software timeline?

Since adding sprints to Jira Software project i am unable to schedule timeline tasks outside the current sprint. how do i remove this sprint restriction and schedule tasks beyond planned sprints

Hello @Lydia Mzondo 

Go to the Timeline page. Click the ... button above the timeline on the right and select Configure Timeline.

There will be a section on the next page for Child Level Scheduling. By default Sprints will be selected. You can change this to By Dates and then schedule the issues on the timeline by Start date and Due date.

Sprints do not have a "schedule" beyond "the team plans what they are doing".   There's no restrictions here, it's allowing a self-organising team to respond to what your organisation needs.
