If I change a project key are epic links unimpacted?

I am looking to change a project key from MS to GD as part of project rebranding. If we change the key I know that all issues on the project will also be changed. Are there any things i need to consider? One thing on my mind would be does this impact epic links or would they remain the same values? Also any other issues I shoud think about before proceeding

A background re-index will happen so take that into performance considerations for when you plan to do the rename.  Other than that here's what you can expect.

Editing the Project Key:

• Old project key can be used in JQL queries
• Attachments are still accessible
• Issue links with old key work as expected
• You cannot create a new project with the old / renamed key
• Only deleting the project allows the reuse of the key
