In active sprint tab can each team member have custom views?

One of my team members thinks the Active Sprint tab should display the list of tickets with swim lanes. 

Another wants it to be a kanban storyboard so you can clearly see which column each ticket is in. 

I know Jira can do either way, but can it do both? Or show whatever a user's preferences are? Or are the settings for the board one or the other?

No, that is not possible as that is fundamentally to the configuration of the board.

The only way I know to satisfy the need is to actually create separate boards with separate configurations, but based on the same underlying filter.
