Integration API truncates description

Hello,

We are using API integration to raise a Jira ticket from ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus.  However, the description field is being truncated to circa 500 characters regardless of how there were in original MESP description.  Once Jira ticket is raised via API integration, we can go into the Jira ticket and add more text to the description so it is not an application  field restriction.

Is ther a setting in API that determines length that we change to a higher value?

Hi Richard,

Sorry to hear that you're having problems integrating Jira with this ManageEnglne product.  However I don't know of any setting in Jira that would limit the character response of that specific field (at least not to 500 characters, I think Jira has a default field limit upwards of 32,767 characters by default for most text fields).

I would like to learn more about the specific integration you have setup here to try to guide a means to resolve this. Could you let me know which software vendor created the integration plugin/tool that you are using to integrate Jira and this other product.  I suspect that the solution might require you to contact the vendor directly here. Of course if this is something that Atlassian provides directly, and I can find a means to reproduce this problem, I'd be happy to try to find if this a problem with some piece of code we provide here in order to push this to an internal Atlassian team if appropriate.

Please let me know.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi Andy, thank you for the reply, it's very much appreciated.  I had forgot I posted in commiunity and should ahve updated the post.  After further investigation and haggling I finally got vendor to look more closely and they accept it was their coding so a minor tweak to API settings in th eend.  Very simple and should not have been the mountain they made of it.

Thank you.

Richard
