My team and I usually create tasks based on backend and frontend and then assign time estimates to each backend and frontend task. In the end, we will get a total number of hours for the backend and frontend. See the following link for how we did this in notion:

My question: Is there a way of doing this in Jira?
Here is what I tried to do:
Hi @Jesse Kamara , Welcome to the Community!
Built-in JQL does not sum up the estimates. As a solution you can either export the result and sum them in MS Excel or use a marketplace app that does this automatically for you.
We developed Reports - Charts and Graphs for Jira app which helps you create various dynamic reports out of your Jira data.
Below you can see an article about creating custom charts and graphs in Jira with our app.
How to Create Custom and Flexible Reports, Charts and Graphs in Jira
Here is our live demo dashboard where you can see and modify sample reports and play with them.
Hope it helps.
Hello @Jesse Kamara
Welcome to the community.
The result you are seeing is working correctly. The Filter Results gadget doesn't provide any sums for fields.
If getting the grand total is sufficient, try the Workload Pie Chart, selecting Labels as the Statistic.
