Is it possible to filter by Epic in Advanced Roadmaps?

I would like to filter my AR plan by Epics, this means, I want to show only the issues of two epics from different projects. I found that the filter is not an option because there are a lot of information not showing up. I have created a Board with the 2 Epics I want to work on but the Epics are not listed because the Board does not have them as they are from different projects.

Any ideas? Could Atlassian add the Epics as a filter?

I used labels to solve that problem.

Take time to decide on Label names so they're universal across your Jira. Once that's done attach the label to epics (only) belonging to the same Initiative...

Advanced roadmaps already has a label filter so when you click that dropdown it should show your label and you can select that to bring up only the epics belonging to a particular initiative.

Hopefully that helps.

Hi Germán Isaurralde.

If you can create a filter with the desired results, you can always base your plan on that filter. It doesn't need to be by a board or project.

Then in the plan itself you can fine tune to show/hide certain issue types for example.

What exactly do you want the plan to show? Only two epics or the two epics and all issues linked to those epics?

Regards,

Sandra

Hi @Sandra Axelsdottir ,

Thanks for you answer. I know I can make a plan base on a filter. Actually, it was the first option I tried. But if you create a plan based on a filter you don't have some information like the epic, for example. Have you tried it? How do you group by Epic in a plan created with a filter?

Regards,

Germán

Hi Germán.

I created a test plan based on a filter and I can see Epics. I had to go into Filters and make sure it was showing Epics, see image.

Hi @Sandra Axelsdottir ,

Is the filter made with one or two projects? Because the problem I have is when the filter has more than one project. Thanks!

Yes, in the example I shared there are a few projects, you can see the beginning of two different issue keys in the image I shared PDI and SHA.

I’m not sure what your problem could be. Have you checked all the settings, like issue source and exclusion rules?

Regards

Sandra
