Jira Automation by Project Category

Hello Brains Trust

Automations, I have an automation I need to limit to only work by specific project category types... how (can) I do this?

 I know I limit to:

• Global - not the best as there are some projects that don't have a field I need to update, leads to errors and is not a very elegant solution (but an ok workaround as the errors don't effect anything apart from the audit log)
• Single project - I need to run it across a number of projects
• Multiple projects - I want it to be dynamic, i.e. so users don't need to remember to add it to the automation if they create a new project.
• Project type - I need it to potentially run across project types

You cannot limit the automation under rules details to a specific category, but you can add a JQL condition in your rule that checks if the issue belongs to a project in a specific category like this:

Adding to Mikael's answer...

I think the smart value to check for the project category is:

{{project.projectCategory.name}}

or the id value if you want to use the numeric value.
