Jira Cloud Automation Subtask Component copying is not working

Hi,

I'm trying to create a single project automation rule where:

  1. When a subtask is created
  2. If the parent has a specific component "ABC"
  3. Then the subtask component field is updated with "ABC"

I've tried this in various ways and was unsuccessful. Here was one of my attempts:

Trigger: When: Issue Created

Branch: For Parent:

If: Components contains any of "ABC"

Action (outside of branch) Then: Edit Issue fields Components: "ABC"

What ends up happening is that the rule disregards the "If" and applies the action to all Parent issues in that project.

Can anyone spot what I'm doing wrong? Any suggestions for how to fix this?

Thanks!

Hello Joe,

Try the rule this way instead. This seems to work.
