Linking Child and Parent issues in Jira Plans (Advanced Portfolio)

Mark Kasindorf October 1, 2020

I am new to Plans.  I've created a plan with a hierarchy of "Initiative" to "Epic", with Initiatives being parents of the Epics.

If I go into Plans itself, create a new Initiative and then create an epic as a child of the Initiative, the link only seems to show up on the Initiative, but not on the epic itself.

If I go into the epic and manually create a "Child of" link to the Initiative, it shows up in both places.  Can anyone tell me why the links created through Plans, only show up on the Initiative?  Am I doing something wrong?

I wonder if it is to do with your filter? For example, when I create an issue from a plan I make sure I enter the Team name so that issue is linked and showing in the right places depending on how I filter for that project or board
