Dear community,

My question is, can I move/Copy a project that is in Jira software and move or copy it in a sandbox environment?

Thank you

Hello @Francisco Navarro ,

This is build into the Jira administration portal. Here are the steps that you can take:

  1. Go to https://admin.atlassian.com
  2. Select Products on top and go to Sandbox
  3. If you don't yet have a Jira Software Sandbox, create one
  4. It will take a moment to create, wait until it is
  5. Select the three dots behind your Jira Software Sandbox project and select "Copy Production Data"
  6. Your production data is now available in the Sandbox environment

I have committed the steps in between, those are dependent on your environment en requirements but should be easy to figure out.

Good luck! Don't hesitate to ask further questions if you are stuck.

Thank you very much Paul,

But I see that this action will copy all the content from Jira software to my sandbox space?

Do you know of a method to copy only specific projects from jira software to my sandbox?

Sorry, I missed this comment. I don't think you can select which projects to copy. Of course, after copying the content, you can always delete the projects you don't need from your sandbox environment.

What would you like to achieve? What is it that you need the production data for? Perhaps you can re-create the situation from a blank slate?

Sorry about that @Francisco Navarro

If you wnat to export only one project, I think the only solution you might have is an add-on.

Take a look at https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211611/configuration-manager-for-jira-cmj?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Forget my answer. The addon can help from server to cloud, but not sure if it can help from cloud to cloud

Salto.io can help copy the configuration of a single project from sandbox to production and vice versa. In general, we support a selective deployment of configuration elements between instances for both Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center.
