I am a Jira Admin and puzzled with one case. The user created a filter, when modifying and trying to save changes there is a pop up "This filter was created by (same name as the user). You can save a copy of this filter but you cannot modify the original."
I checked that the user does not have a duplicate accounts.
What potentially could be wrong with the user setting?

Hello Hanna,
Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!
When this message appears it may be related to permissions to edit the filter or the filter was indeed created by another user.
Did this user have another account that was deactivated?
As it shows only the name on that message, is there any other user with the same full name?
Was there any change in this user permissions, like groups, global permissions, project permissions?
Regards,
Angélica
Hello Angélica_Luz, thank you for getting back to me with possible solutions.
I found out that this pop up appears when the owner did not do any changes to the filter. If the owner of the filter did changes to the query, then the [Save as] button will change to [Save] button and after initiating Search, the user can save updated filter.
The message is the pop up indeed very confusing and misleading.
Again, thank you for getting back to me!
Thanks,
Hanna
