i created a rule to Populate Sprint field for Bugs when linked to a story. However it is not working. I am unable to find whats wrong. Please suggest
While I agree with @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- that adding new Bugs to your Sprint automatically is not a best practice, I'm willing to advise you on how to change your Automation Rule.
Please show us the full Automation Rule you have. Show us the Audit Log for an execution of the rule where it did not do what you expected.

Sub-tasks are not sprint items, they do not go into sprints individually, they are included in a sprint when the issue of which they are a part is in a sprint. (I'm guessing your bugs are probably a sub-task type too). The sprint field is an irrelevance in a sub-task because it's part of something else.

Hi Nic,
Thanks for the response. No , i am crreating issue type = bug and then linking to a story. When i link it and if the sprint value of the bug is empty then the sprint value of the bug to be added similar to the story

So your "bugs" are at the same level as stories?
You should not be just adding bugs into a sprint when they are created and linked - your developers should be adding them into their sprint during sprint planning.

Agree with you but at org level this is being expected. So have to create automation rule for the same

What your org level expects is not Scrum, it's not Agile, and it cannot work, for sub-tasks. If your bugs are at the story level, you can do it for them, but sub-tasks simply can't have a sprint field applied to them, other than inheriting it from their parent. It's total nonsense to have a sub-task that's in a different place to the thing of which it is a part.

right now iam looking only to add sprint value to bugs not to sub-tasks
