Pull in an epic and some of its children to a board

We have epics that are shared across multiple teams. I need to be able to pull in the issues that meet the team's criteria (team name) but also see the parent epic.

Is there a way to write the filter to look for Stories/bugs/tasks that are flagged for that specific team and also pull in its linked parent epic?

Hi @gstoesz ,

You could try the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) dashboard gadget offered by our Great Gadgets app.  It does the grouping for you and displays the issues from a filter in form of Epic > Stories, Tasks > Subtaks along with their status.

All you have to do is to create a filter that returns all the issues to be grouped, and to configure the gadget to use this filter.

You could have a filter for each team and a gadget for each team.

This app offers many other gadgets that you might find useful.

Thank you,

Danut M.

Hello @gstoesz

It sounds like what you are asking for is something effectively a way to get Epics based on a dynamically derived list of child issues. That is not possible with native Jira functionality.

Would you consider, or do you already have, a third party app that extends JQL functionality like any of the ones listed here?
