Hello, I wonder, is there a way to add QR code as an additional field but NOT as issue id?
I receive a biosample with QR code on it. I would like to add this 2D code as a field to sample processing ticket, so IF I scan this code with my 'sector specific app' I get all metadata without the need of opening the fridge, finding the sample, scanning the code.
Is there any JIRA CLOUD app that can take a photo and add a code to a ticket?
Hi @Michal Klucz ,
maybe, we have a similar story.
We have parts with a given QR code. During our material check we scan those codes to get a bunch of information.
This QR code will become unavailable during assembly, so we have to store the QR code, or to be clear, the encoded data, in a custom field for our end of line check and customer service.
There is an iPhone / iPad App, called "ScanKey - QR OCR NFC Keyboard". This App will scan nearly all Codes and add the value in your custom field.
It works like a special keyboard, instead of typing characters, you scan the code and the app will extract the data.
Today, our engineers just point the iPad with the current issue open to the QR code and scan the code with this special keyboard. And all data become part of the issue.

Ingo
Hi @Michal Klucz welcome to the Atlassian community.
Your query is quite interesting and thank you for bringing that up. I'm exploring some of the market place apps for your query and see this QR Code for jira cloud app might give you some assistance.

Hello G,
I am testing this app right now :) but what I see it works like QR code that redirects to the issue.
It's also a nice feature, I can work on the issue on my laptop, then grab my tablet, scan QR code get the issue on the screen and go to the lab (where we cannot bring laptops).
But I need something different.
I need a field that when I click that (empty) field on my tablet, JIRA will ask me 'do you want to grant access to your camera' I will click 'yes', take a photo of the 2D code on the vial, and this code will appear in JIRA as a field. So next time, when someone will work with me on that issue, they can use another app to scan that code and get metadata that we don't wont to store in JIRA, but they are essential for our work.

I certainly understand the point now and able to "see" your query. At the moment, I would join your query waitlist for an experienced community leader or an Atlassian team member to answer and share insights.
