Agile report status different from Jira

What I noticed was that at one point, the status in the Agile report got out of synch from the status in the Jira detail. Is there a good explanation on this?

The closest post I can find is as follows, but doesn't quite have the striaght answer.

How are your columns mapped to the actual status in the mapping for the board?

Ah...I see where you are going. Let me try to play around with those mappings and report back later.

By the way, I guess in order to have them exactly match, we should have a direct one to one mapping with the same text on both sides?
