I'm looking for an app that will allow me to do a JQL for attachments based on file size. Ideally, after I run the JQL, I would then be able to bulk delete the attachments that meet this criteria. Better yet, I'd like to set up an automation rule where all attachments under a specific size would be deleted.
I'm trying to get rid of all company logos and social media icons that come in as attachments because they are in the clients signature line.
Thanks!
my team and I work on an app that may not (yet) completely solve your problem, but may get you one step closer: JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged table/spreadsheet view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by your issue fields, much like you'd do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of "smart columns" that aren't natively available, including the "Attachments size" - i.e., the size of all attachments on an issue. With this, you could easily identify issues that have a small overall attachments size, like so:
Unfortunately, you can't currently inline-edit attachments in JXL (although that's something we may add in the future) - but you can easily open Jira's issue view and remove the attachments from there. I totally acknowledge that this is only a small part of what you looking for, but it should at least give you a starting point for some manual cleanup.
Hope this helps,
Best,
Hannes

Great suggestion on having a JQL for attachments, we have done that for some other functionality. I will add your suggestion to our enhancement list for the Revyz Backup & Restore app (Thank you).
See screenshot below of what we do today with regards to attachment analytics.
Apart from being able to backup your Jira Cloud site and being able to Restore data back granularly we provide analytics of your site including attachments. Our thinking is that using the analytics we provide you can optimize your site better.
With regards to attachments you can filter the attachment data with - Attachment size and Attachment extension (today).
Given that we know which ticket each attachment is attached to, we can do the following:
1. An action to delete from your Jira site (This is on our roadmap)
2. An action to delete from your backup data (This is on our roadmap)
3. Provide a JQL for you to be able to select these attachments (I will add this to our roadmap)
