Hello Support team,
I am use to working with Jira initiatives at previous companies. However, I noticed there was not a Jira issue type for an initiative so I added it. However, I would like to add it to the top of the hierarchy with the other issue types. It appears I can only do this with the Jira portfolio enabled.
How can I add that to this cloud installation of Jira?
Thank you,
Leif

Full disclosure, I work for the company that makes Structure.

Hi @Leif Fortson Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Yes, you can do this using Portfolio for Jira which is now called Advanced Roadmaps.
However, Advanced Roadmaps (formerly Portfolio) is only a Jira Software premium feature and is not part of the standard plan of Jira. You need to upgrade to premium to use this feature as mentioned here : https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/jira-cloud-plans-972338880.html

In standard Jira there is no additional hierarchy beyond Epic >> task/story >> sub-tasks
So if you want to have more hierarchy, you'd have to upgrade to premium Jira. Or you may use plug-ins.
There are Jira native plug-ins like big picture and structure which works with only data in Jira
There are external integrations / plug-ins that have data both in Jira and other data sources. Our product, dragonboat is in this category.

@Becky just a word of clarification here - currently, BigPicture is able to connect with Jira and Trello at the same time. Additionally, we are putting great effort into integrating it with Microsoft Azure in near future.
I invite you to see our blog post shedding more light on this.
@Leif Fortson - if, by any chance, you still have not chosen your go-to solution for structuring your projects by initiatives, please let me know. I will be happy to demonstrate BigPicture's possibilities in this aspect.
