Our DevOps team is asking for their project to be configured with two release issue types. One will be a Release and the other will be Release - Hot Fix.
These two issue types carry different workflows and different screen schemes. I have created everything in Jira but when I go to create these two issue types, I am only able to see the screens created for the Release issue type. The Release Hot Fix issue type carries the same screens as the Release issue type.
These two issue types carry distinct screen schemes. I am not sure where the gap is that is preventing me from creating a Release Hot Fix issue with its unique screen configuration.
Hi Zack - you need to create an Issue Type Screen Scheme and assign each issue type to the appropriate Screen Scheme.
Hi Zack,
In the issue types list do you have two distinct issue types; Release and Release - Hot Fix or is the difference only at the workflow and screen scheme level? If so that is where your problem is as the system will only display the first screen scheme assigned to it. Issue components such as workflows and screens can be shared between several distinct issue types, but one issue type cannot share several components.
I am a little confused by the problem here though, if that's not the case let me know and we can get into more detail on this.
Thanks,
David

I have tried with 2 of the same issue types with different workflow and schemes and then I have also tried with two distinct issue types but labeled as Release and Release Hot Fix with 2 different workflows and screen schemes. Each issue type has the appropriate scheme associated with it but when I go to create the issue issue, I only am able to create a Release.
How does JIRA recognize that an issue type is the same? I was thinking that simply choosing a different issue type would suffice.
