Connect a custom email account in Jira, impact anything related to SPF for my Office 365 email?
My team member wants to configure one our "support@domain.com" as the "custom email account" in that link above. My email server does not allow relay to external recipients currently. However, the method above "works" in that the email does get sent eventually to the Jira Support address and a ticket does get created.
Our email admin is concerned and asking "how is this working?" which is a fair question. We have SPF, DKIM, DMARC all set up to cover our sender verification. So I am asking how does this approach actually work with connecting a custom email to Jira so it forwards and creates the ticket? How does it "forward" to the Jira address from our domain.com mailbox? The mailbox they tested with is not configure in O365 to forward to the Jira address.
Any incite on this would be very much appreciated.

If you follow the prompts to set up the custom email account with Jira, it will ask you for credentials to log in to that email account.
Jira then periodically logs in to that account (using the credentials you supplied) to check if there are any new messages in the inbox. That is, it doesn't rely on your email provider forwarding the email to Jira.
Thanks Ben!
So there is no "forwarding" of any kind happening. I appreciate your timely answer.
