Different type of statuses in sprint

Hi Everybody

The columns in the sprint view do not match the possible workflow states.

I need to know why this is happening, considering that I created the sprint before adding new states.

Could this be the problem?

The status types in the tasks should match the column names, no?

Should the categories match the statuses? This is new to me

Thanks!

Hi @Jorge Alastuey , depending on the project type and capabilities the columns of the board can be different than workflow statuses. For example, using a Company Managed Software project allows you to create columns and map statuses to those columns. Further example...

statuses may be: To Do, In Progress, Ready for QA, Testing, Verified, Done

Columns: To Do, In Progress, Done

Mapping:

  • To Do: To Do
  • In Progress: In Progress, Ready for QA, Testing, Verified
  • Done: Done

If I missed your point here LMK.

Hi @Jorge Alastuey , it is best to reply within the thread vs. using Suggest an Answer button.

  • click on the ellipses and choose Board settings
  • Click on Columns
  • click into the name of the column to edit the column names

Sorry

Adding them by hand?

Can't you somehow associate the types of issues to the categories?

I went back and reread your last post again and see that I was not fully addressing your question. With that said I am confused. You mention

how can I make those categories I see in columns to be the same as the issues types?

Do you really mean "issue types" here or are you referring to statuses? Are you actually asking - How do you create a column for each status? It seems, based on what you have provided here, that you have three columns: to do in progress and done, and you have six statuses that are individually map to these three columns. Do you wish to have six columns? If so, simply add and arrange the columns as desired and drag-drop the statuses into the appropriate columns.

if I am off track let me know.

Hi @Jorge Alastuey !

If I understood you correctly, you need to have same columns and workflow statuses on your Jira board.

For this, you can go to the board settings -> column management and add/remove columns and map statuses to the columns there.

If it's not an answer to your question please let me know.

I see 3 by default categories, and different status types it forces to me to include every status in a category. An example

New issue - To do

In Refinement - In progress

In review - In progress

Deleted - In progress

Blocked - I progress

Done - Done

how can I make those categories I see in columns to be the same as the issues types? But maybe this is confusing people too much and it is better to work as it comes by default.

What do you think about this?
