Estimation Statics field has an invalid custom field after "Story Point" is gone!

Miba August 24, 2021

Somehow the Story Point field is gone from the all the projects, I see the "Story Point" as a custom field in the JIRA settings but it seems this is created accidently and so it got replaced by the default one, and now the Tickets does not show anymore the story points assigned to the ticket but surprisingly is shown on "Sprint Report" as a dedicated column.

and when I ask "Where is my field?"

where-is-my-field.PNG

but base on Sprint Report this ticket contains "Field Value".

the issue I think is the ID for the custom field has been changed and now if it is so, how can I revert back again the story points, either from UI or DB!

EDIT #1

Is it possible these two fields are different and by adding this "Story Points" Custom field to the project and screen caused this issue?

Cheers

One of your administrators deleted the custom field that was being used by the board as the estimation statistic - the 10131 you see displayed was the unique id for the custom field in the database.

You can't "revert" as the field has been completely destroyed, but you can just select another field for the statistic.  Story points in your third screenshot is a good candidate.

I chose now the new custom field "Story Point" for the statistics but how can I now map the old values to this one? because now the all estimation on EPICs are empty as it says it is not estimated.

You can't.  When you deleted the field, you really did delete it - all the data for it has been deleted.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- , I don't thin you are 100% correct. It should be possible to restore the custom field from the trash.

@Miba check out trashed custom fields. If 60 days since deletion haven't passed or in case an admin hasn't permanently removed the field from the trash, you can restore both the field and the associated data.

@Miba and of course, don't forget to use free Magic Estimations app for Story Points or restored "Story Point" custom field sizing :)

Ah, I didn't mention this, but:

The "field trash" thing only applies in team-managed projects.

The field in the screenshot is a global field, for use in company-managed projects.  These do not have a bin, and if deleted, really are gone.

I'm not sure the trash applies to team-managed projects, I'm able to delete and restore my field I use in a company-managed project.

I'd say vice-versa, it's applied for the global fields. But your confidence, @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- , makes me think I'm wrong :)
