So, my problem is that I need to have more than just the impediment flag. I already added a new option to the field flagged but it's not working.
Whenever I click on Add flag, it automatically adds the impediment type. I tried to set the flagged default value to my new option but it didn't work either.
Is there a way for me to do this?
As it is, it seems that Jira does not support this.
There is an issue (JSWSERVER-2268 ) suggesting this improvement open since 2010! You can vote and watch it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. :-)
This issue is for Jira DataCenter. I couldn't find a similar one for Jira Cloud, but I think it doesn't support this either.
@Laryssa_Carvalho , @John Funk - how did you guys manage to add additional options/value to the field 'flagged' to begin with?
For me, as an admin on JIRA Cloud, its 'LOCKED' inside Settings > Issues > Custom Fields. Thanks!

I found this post as jira clouds behavior seems to have changed. On a scrum board you can right click a ticket and add a flag this give you the option to add text to it. However anywhere else viewer a ticket no longer allow you to do anything other than set a flag without the ability to enter resone for the flag ... Any advice as to where this disappeared to or If I need to raise a support request ?>

I added the flagged field to the screen and configured this screen to Edit issue operation but it's still no working.
When I access Project settings -> Issue layout, the flagged field doesn't appear. I guess that's the problem and has something to do with the field configuration but I don't know how to fix it.

I tried this but it didn't work.
I'm able to choose the flagged option only when I'm creating an issue and after that I can't update the field anymore. I created an issue with the flagged option I wanted and removed the flag later. When I tried to add the same flag option again, it automatically added the impediment.

Sounds like there might be a problem with the screen scheme you are using if it will not allow you to update the Flagged field. I can update with no problem. See if your Edit screen includes the Flagged field or not.

@Laryssa_Carvalho I don't this thins is valid any more, is there a way to changed flagged field to 'Yes' rather than 'Impediment' we have separate use cases for 'Impediment' and 'Yes' looks like they have now taken away the option to use the ternary value Yes, No or Null and Impediment :(

If you use the Add Flag from right clicking on a card on a board, it will put register it as Impediment. But if you go to the details of the card, you can update the Flagged field with one of the new values.

@John Funk This is not possible in cloud as you cannot add other values to the context of custom field flagged. Or am I missing something here?

You were able to add other values at one point, but then the field was locked down and now you can't. That happened a few years ago.

Thought so, just wanted to double-check if I was missing something.
