I'm trying to configure my basic issue hierarchy in my project.
Currently, it's Epic > Story, Task, Bug > Sub-task
I need it to be Epic > Story, Bug > Task, Bug > Sub-task, Bug
Is there any way to do this in the free version? (Yes, I know I can name them differently and configure them, that's not my point...)
I ended up finding a solution using an app named "Structure"... Its connection is artificial and has no visible correlation in issue views, but it allows managing the issues in a very comfortable issue tree hierarchy, perfect for my needs.
Thank you for choosing Structure, @Adi Lerner. Please feel free to reach out to our support team any time with any questions you may have about your use cases.
In particular, we'd love to show you how the Linked Issues section in the Jira issue view — with its link and issue types — reflects the hierarchy you create with your structures.

You cannot create your desired hierarchy. In Standard Jira you have the following option…
Epic > Story/Task > sub-task

Hi @Adi Lerner If i am right, you are trying to create hierarchy in Roadmap ?
In JIRA Cloud free version. You get Basic Roadmap only. In Basic roadmap , you can't change hierarchy .

Hi, @Vikrant Yadav ,
I don't use Roadmap. I just need to be able to create issues in a certain hierarchy...

Hi @Adi Lerner welcome to the Atlassian community.
Please be informed you need to have the "Jira admin access". If yes, then these are the steps:
1. Go to your project site
2. Click Project settings in the project sidebar and view the "Summary page".
3. Click on your project "Scrum Issue Type Scheme" which takes you to the Issue types
page in the project.
4. Click Actions – Edit issue types
This above steps should take you to the "Modify Issue Type Scheme page" for the project in Jira administration.
5. Here you see the default or your Jira admin configured issue type-"story" mostly.
6. Now, you can choose issue types by "drag and drop" as per your initial requirement: Epic > Story, Bug > Task, Bug > Sub-task, Bug
Stay safe and stay healthy.

Hi, @G subramanyam
This doesn't change the hierarchy of the issue types, just the order in which they appear in the drop-down.
I need to be able to create a task under a story, for example, and a sub-task under that task... Currently, there's no way I can see to enable that.
