How to get a Total for Opportunity Value

Matthew Hardy November 5, 2021

Hi All,

Is there any tool on Jira through the Dashboard, where you can get a grand total for opportunity value.

Currently, we are using the lead sales tracker to monitor the jobs we bid for. With this we put them into categories of:

Opportunity

Quoted

WIP

Complete

Cancelled.

We would like to be able to see the total for say all the jobs that have been cancelled to see the cost it is potentially having on our business. Is there any possible way of this through Jira Dashboard?

Thanks

Hi @Matthew Hardy

I suggest taking a look at the Analytics & Reports add-on by Screenful. This Jira add-on makes it easy to set up weekly/monthly/quarterly reports and have them automatically delivered to the right stakeholders. Here’s an example report delivered to the email:

You can use any date range in these reports and you can freely customize the content. You can learn more about our reports feature from this guide. Feel free to reach out to support@screenful.com for more details.

Hi @Matthew Hardy

I am from eazyBI for Jira app support.

eazyBI allows to import and analyze the majority of custom fields; after importing (usually, it needs only selecting this field from the custom field list in eazyBI import options), they can be used in the reports as any default Jira field and can be combined with other numeric values (measures) and dimensions (list of values). There is more about custom field import into eazyBI: Jira custom fields in eazyBI

When Opportunity is imported as a dimension, you can use it in reports. Get count of issues by each opportunity and the issue's current or historical (in some time period) status, for example, combining measure "Issues created" and dimensions "Status" and newly imported "Opportunity". You can add other dimensions and measures to the report as well.

See the example below. Instead of the "Opportunity" field, I used a custom field "Color" which is imported as a dimension into eazyBI. I created a report of the issue count by the issue's current status, additionally added a measure for logged hours; the report is filtered by a project.

You may check out the eazyBI demo account for more report examples: eazyBI demo dashboard "Start simple".

Hi @Matthew Hardy

I do not believe there is a built-in dashboard gadget which can sum up a custom field like that.  You may want to investigate the marketplace for app purchases: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/

Given what you describe, consider looking for tools which allow multiple operations (sum, average, percentiles), including over time, to give you the most flexibility.

Perhaps also try exporting some issues to a spreadsheet to prototype what you want to see/make visible.  That will help as you investigate reporting tools.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Bill Sheboy

Thank you for your response. I will have a look through the app marketplace to see if I can find a solution.

Thanks
