How to manage user permissions by project?

Khelen February 17, 2022

I am managing a few projects with different engineer team using my JIRA premium.

Type of Jira:

Company managed Project

The problem i am facing:

I try to group the user based on project.

However, the user from different projects are still able to see the "title" of the project list even though i have restricted their permission on "browse project"

The user not in the project will NOT be able to see the project content, but the project title.

Did i make any mistake in setting the permission?

I would appreciate if anyone could help me.

It is not possible to "hide" projects so that the names don't show up in the View All Projects list in a manner that they show for only the users who do have access and don't show for people who don't have access.

It is possible to hide projects on the list so that only Jira Admins can see them and non-admins cannot, but that is not the scenario you are describing.

Thank you for your explanation.

May i know if this is due to default setting in jira that i am not able to show the project list to the users in the list based on grouping?

May i understand more on the possibility of hiding the project on the list so that only Jira admin can see them and non admins cannot?

Does this simply mean the project is not accessible at all?

The option that makes a project visible on the Project List only for Jira Admins results in the project being accessible only by Jira Admins also.

Thank you Trudy :(

i guess the only way is to subscribe to the corporate plan that can manage by multiple sites.

Hi @Khelen , what you have given the permissions are right , but check again have you given a permission to application access like this

See this for your reference:

permission-browse.png

Whenever , this happens users from other projects who are logged users can also see, so remove the granting application access and give it only to your group required and try this once.

Hope this helps you :) @Khelen ,

Thanks,

Thank you Sukruth.

Yes, i have removed that "Any logged in user" access and added only the specified group.

However, the the uninvited user is still able to:

1 See the name of the project he / she is not invited.

2 Not able to access the project.

i am not sure where i have done wrong.

i will try to remove all users and try again.
