Is there a way to edit fields from multiple issues in 1 screen?

Kyra Mayock October 19, 2022

Hi All,

Does anyone know if there is a way to edit multiple fields for multiple different issues from one screen in Jira Cloud? There is a feature on the server side called "Plans" and on this screen/feature you can make edits to multiple fields of multiple issues directly from within the plan results display screen. Does anything like this exist on Cloud? Does Advanced Roadmaps handle this?

Thanks!

Hi @Kyra Mayock

For sure you can use bulk change option in Jira. Just search for issues (Filters -> Advanced issue search) you would like to edit and then click ... -> Bulk Change all XXX issues.

BULK.pngTo make a bulk change you need to have proper global permissions granted.

Options suggested by you probably also can be used (I am not an expert in Advanced Roadmap). You can create a desired plan and inside it bulk change selected issues:

Kind regards,

Piotr

Thanks for the reply. I am familiar with the bulk change feature but that doesn't really accomplish what I am looking for. I am looking to be able to edit different fields on different issues all from 1 screen and have them update in real time.

I think I got you.

Such a feature is available in Jira Work Management in the List view:

You can edit any displayed field and treat this view as a spreadsheet.

You can also use Advanced Roadmap to do it:

Thanks! Looks like Work Management might do the trick :)

Hi @Kyra Mayock

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I bet you'd like the app that my team is working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting and filtering by all your issue fields. You can inline-edit your fields individually or in bulk (using copy/paste), and you can also inline-create new issues.

This is how this looks in action for the status (it works the same way for any other field):

status-change.gif

(It's worth noting that JXL can do much more than that: From support for issue hierarchies and grouping, to sum-ups, to conditional formatting.)

You probably know that you can trial any app for free for one month, and depending on the size of your site, it may be free forever. So perhaps give it a shot and see if it solves your use case. Any questions, just let me know!

Hope this helps,

Best,

Hannes
