Is there a way to hide done projects from a sprint in the backlog view

Marie May 11, 2022

I like the look of the Backlog view the most for working with my projects:

In the list for that sprint showing, I am still seeing projects that are listed as "Done" and can't figure out how to hide those.

We have another view that's just called "Backlog" underneath the sprint where the done projects disappear but Discontinued projects don't. Would also like to hide those.

Hi Marie, and welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I'm not sure what you mean by "still seeing projects that are listed as "done""

Could you give me a bit more information, and maybe paste the JQL filter you are using to populate your board?

I'm newer to this but here's a screenshot of a done project still showing:

That's a single issue in the SI Project.  It is still showing up because it is a part of "SI Sprint 4"  The line through it indicates that the issue has been assigned a resolution.

Resolved issues do not appear in the backlog, because that is your place for incomplete work that is waiting to be assigned to a Sprint.

Hope this helps :)

*Important note, these are Issues you are looking at, not Projects.  The issues in your screenshot are both in the same project that has a key of "SI".  You can tell from the issue keys being prefixed with SI - as in "SI-253"

Technically you can hide them, if you adjusted your board filter to ignore resolved issues.  The JQL would be:

"project = SI AND resolution IS EMPTY"

But I would advise against it.  A sprint, by design, is there to contain the issues you are working on and completing during that iteration.  If you remove them once they are complete, your metrics/reporting will lose any value it had before.

Is this where the JQL is added?

no, you will need to find the filter for the board in your board settings (the "..." menu in the top right)

I'm sorry for the delay. It ended up needing to move the "Done" status to the end of the list of statuses:

I'm not entirely sure why that worked but it did for some reason. Thank you for all your help, the information you provided has been helpful in other things. This is all so new to me so I am very grateful!!!
