Jira Automation - Create Slack Channel

Our team creates a dedicated slack channel for each jira issue in our sprint.

I'd like to automatically create a slack channel utilizing Jira Automation or one of the integrated plugins but i'm not finding any way to do this.

Ideally it would be when the issue moves from To Do to In Progress or when it becomes part of a sprint.  I know I can manually link a jira issue with a specific slack channel, but was hoping this could be automated.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Welcome to the community!

Unfortunately, at the moment it is not possible to create a channel in slack, only to send a notification message.

You can double check this by checking the documentations below:

• Jira for Slack 
• Use Automation with Slack 
• Send a daily Slack message surfacing open issues in the sprint 

Please check the documentation above to understand more about how to send notifications to slack, but unfortunately creating a slack channel is not supported at the moment.

Has there been any progress on this?  i.e. can jira automations now create slack channels?
