Hi everyone,
Im curently trying to setup an automation in Jira,
Whenever I create an issue of a certain type I want this to happen:
- new confluence page is created ✅
- confluence page gets Jira key and title as its own title ✅
- confluence page gets a link to the Jira issue
- confluence page shows the description of the Jira issue
I figured out the first two and they are working nicely. Is it possible to make the last two work as well? Can I access some variables from the Jira issue inside my confluence page template?
Thanks,
Peter
@Peter Bösenberg welcome to atlassian community!
This is definitely possible, but you would need to use Send web request together with Confluence's REST API (Create Page) and supplying the page's body with Jira field values.
Ahhh, ok, thanks!
Maybe you can answer a follow-up question:
Would I then have to provide the whole page body or could I also just pass some variables which (with some magic) get inserted in my confluence page template?

@Peter Bösenberg you'd need to pass the whole page body, that way you can add issues field values into different part of your page.

@Peter Bösenberg Did you ever get this to work? I'm having troubles with it.

Hi Anne,
nope, never managed to make this work. Since I didn't want to go with the API and wanted to stick with the Jira-UI, I couldn't find any way.

I've gotten close using the API in an automation (Created a page with the smart value title I wanted, a table, and the status bullets the team requested) but still no dice on the jira issue values. Oh, well. :/
