Bug: Updating a project version name in JIRA is not reflected on Confluence pages

Bug Report

Environment:

  • JIRA Cloud
  • Confluence Cloud
  • JIRA and Confluence are linked together so that
    • JIRA tickets have links to Confluence pages
    • Confluence pages have links to JIRA tickets

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a JIRA project
  2. Create a version in that JIRA project
  3. Create a Confluence page
  4. Add the JIRA filter macro using a JQL query containing the JIRA project version
  5. Publish the confluence page
  6. Result: The JQL result is displayed on that page
  7. Now change the name of the JIRA version
  8. Refresh the Confluence page
  9. Result: The JQL is broken as the JIRA version given cannot be found anymore

Expected Result:

  • When JIRA and Confluence are linked any update of a JIRA version name should be reflected in the linked Confluence

Currently it is a high effort to keep all Confluence pages up-to-date and working after a simple JIRA version name change

Hi @Roman Wolf,

That is great feedback. And not only that - it is also very well documented! To get this in the right place, it is best if you either report it directly as a bug report to Atlassian Support or via in product feedback.

In Atlassian Community we are mainly Atlassian aficionados helping out users on a - very often - voluntary basis, but we don't manage the product backlog.

Thanks for the input - hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout ,

thanks for your feedback. I know that adding Bug/Feature Request into this community board is not the best to feedback to Atlassian.

But as reported in this thread https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Where-do-I-report-a-Bug-to-Atlassian/qaq-p/797944#M257409 it is the Atlassian's recommended way when you are just a user on "Standard" plan.

Using Atlassian Support I am ending up here again.

If you know any better way to address my feedback, let me know.

Thanks a lot, Roman

Hi @Roman Wolf,

Users on the free plan do not have support included in their plan and they should indeed seek help here in the Community. The standard plan is a commercial plan, which does include support, so you can address the Atlassian support channels.

Just looking into this specific scenario: you do describe a product issue that seems to be inherent to the product itself. And although reporting it does not necessarily mean it will be fixed immediately, reporting it directly to product support still seems like the right thing to do with it.

Hi @Walter Buggenhout ,

thanks for the hint. As I am not a side admin, this would explain why I am lacking that capability.

Seems I need to proxy my requests through a site admin person.

Thanks a lot, Roman
