Can I report on how many times a story has carried over in a sprint?

Is there a way to report on how many times a story has carried over?

I am unaware of built-in features to do this with Jira Cloud.

How often do you need to do this, as that will help you decide how to proceed?  For example...

• infrequently needed:
  • review the issues manually at the end of each sprint, or...
  • export the issues to a spreadsheet and use formulas and pivot tables to count the number of sprint values per issue
• need often...
  • and you have money to spend:
    • purchase addons for JQL or reporting gadgets to do this from the Atlassian Marketplace
  • no money to spend, and willing to learn about automation rules:
    • create a custom field, such as Sprint Count
    • create an automation rule, triggered on Sprint Started, which will update the count every time an issue is in a sprint.  The count for an issue would be {{issue.sprint.size|0}}
    • once the field is set, you can report on it using a JQL search, dashboard, etc.

Jira does not have a lot of reporting on this sort of thing, mainly because it should not happen often, and when it does, your team should be looking at why it has happened every time, and in great detail.

Agree that it should not happen but need data to prove a point.

I do have scriptrunner and can purchase additional addons.
