Can we create threads for Comments on Jira Tickets

Sofia Grunspan

Would it be possible to respond in-line to comments on a Jira ticket (as if in a Thread). The developer had several questions in tickets and it gets a little messy trying to keep track of which comments answer which question.

Hello @Sofia Grunspan

That is not currently a native feature, though there is an open change request for it.

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-3406

There are apps that can add this functionality. Here is a search from the Atlassian Marketplace to help you find some of them.

@Trudy Claspill - Has there been any other possible solutions such as:  https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-3406 to date which eliminates this issue?

Hello,

We just released a browser extension that add threads to the native comments. Check it out: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/jira-threaded-comments/iebdnelohkccnfpleafffkkikkojmgih

It works just in your browser and no data is shared outside.

It's only available for Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers, but we're working on publishing it to Firefox add-on store.

Disclaimer: It's a paid extension, but there's a one-week trial period for you to tell if it's useful.

Let me know, what you think!

HI @Seweryn Kalemba

Thanks for letting me know of this. Would it be possible to let me know of the underlying costs outlined to maintain this? is there any limitation on the no of users (i.e. 8 users free and more at a cost?)

Thanks!

Hi @Brenda Xuereb ,

It's $12 per year per user (the user rate gets smaller with more users, it's $11 for 11-20 users and so on). We offer a 7-day trial with no credit card requirement whatsoever.

Also, for early-adopters we have a special 25% discount ready. Let me know, if you're interested.

Hi @Sofia Grunspan /@Seweryn Kalemba ,

If you are still looking for a solution and ok to achieve it through 3rd party app. you may want to try our app ThreadWave Comments for Jira | Atlassian Marketplace

This supports threaded comments and templates. it also supports threaded comments in JSM Customer Portal

Regards,

Leo
