Currently when my users sign in and click on the project, they are presented with no obvious way to view the Kanban board I have set up for the project. I would like that board to be the main page of the project, how can I do this?
looks i was having similer issue, whenever i login and select my project..JIRA would take me to some random issue list with query parameters for some defect.. where as i wanted to set summary page as my default page whenever i select that project from resent projects list or from some other location and i think i found a solution...and it worked for me..
lets say you want to set the summary page of project 1 as your default page for that project so that whenever you login or switch between projects in the same session
1. first go to the page of the project which you want to set as your default home page
https://xyz.atlassian.net/projects/<projectkey>/summary
2. copy the URL
3. log out and clear cache
4. start new browser session and hit copied URL https://xyz.atlassian.net/projects/<projectkey>/summary
5. once you login, summary page becomes default page. now it will become your default irrespective any number or cache clear or login logout..
hope this will helps
holy cow, this is the weirdest thing ever, but actually works! thanks Sachin!!

Whao this is REALLY weird! But I can confirm it works in some cases (only for some projects in our case - no idea why yet).
Does anyone know if there is already a feature request to add a setting for this instead? At least a user specific setting to make this more transparent and documented behaviour?
I couldn't find one yet.
EDIT: See and vote https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-36467

I think Jira is a great platform and don't understand when people criticize it. This is one of those things that prove me wrong.
In any case, no need to log out and clear cache. You can open a private browser window and paste in the url. It will now be the default in all windows.

I know that this question is a few years old, but one user of ours would also prefer to go to the Kanban board when clicking the Project links instead of going to issues or whatever else. I've checked in the Profile Preferences and don't see an option in there, so I'm wondering if this is something that again will require an unofficial modification using Greasemonkey.

Hi. Did you find a way to realize this? I am also looking for a way to jump direct to the project's board.

Hi Michaela, I haven't found a way to do it yet, but I think everyone on our team has gotten used to just selecting Boards first rather than Project.

If you are on OnDemand, looks like there is not way to achieve this. I am guessing you are talking about the Project Summary page. On installed variants, you may overrride the default page with plugin which can automatically redirect to an existing Kanban board.

I don't know if there's a global setting that you can set - but each user can set Agile to be their default page. https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Changing+your+JIRA+Home+Page

To be clear, I want the full main Kanban board as the default page when a user signs in, or at least a link tot he full Kanban board. I was able to get the kanban board displayed on the main page as a gadget, but it is missing many features such as quick filters, or a link to the full view of this board.
