Clone Smart Checklist with Changing status from DONE to TODO

Erika Yamamoto October 13, 2022

I'm trying to Clone tasks with smart Checklist and change the checklist status from DONE to TODO.

I use "Deep Clone" Application  to clone checklist , but the status of Checklist  does not change.

Are there anything resolution to solve the problem?

Hi @Erika Yamamoto

We have consulted on your case between our teams and although Deep Clone can edit the values of most issue fields with the Deep Clone Field Editor, it is not possible to change the status of a Smart Checklist item while cloning, unfortunately.
However, it is possible to let Deep Clone trigger a Jira Automation Incoming Webhook. which might do the trick.
I hope this helps!

Hi @Erika Yamamoto -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I recommend reviewing the documentation for Smart Checklist, specifically on how to update a checklist using an Automation for Jira rule.  The other checklist apps I have used were able to add/edit checklists using rules, and I suspect the Smart Checklist is the same.

You likely could trigger the rule on issue creation, detect it was a clone, and then adjust the checklist status values.

Kind regards,
Bill

Thank you for answering my question.

And I'm searching the documentation but I couldn't find it about an checklist using an Automation for Jira rule. is it on the site  https://st-keiri.atlassian.net/jira/marketplace/discover/app/rw-smart-checklists ?

I found it. Thank you.

Are you folks (@Erika Yamamoto or @Bill Sheboy) able to provide any insight on this scenario? I am attempting to "clear" a checklist when cloning an issue as well, but have been unable to find information on how to achieve this task. Please advise if you were able to find a solution. Thank you.

Hi @Tim Bonney

As this is a very old thread, I recommend creating a new question, and perhaps adding a link back to this one.  That will ensure the maximum number of peoples see it to offer suggestions.

In the mean time...clearing a checklist depends upon the type of field.  When using a marketplace addon for checklists, I recommend first checking their documentation as many of them have automation examples to show how to clone / clear the data from rules.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Tim Bonney ,

Matheus from TitanApps team here.

If you are using Smart Checklist and you are on the DC version, you can find clone settings in the following article.

If that's not what you are looking for you can also send us more details on your use case and we can look further into it.

Thanks!

Thanks, but we're using JSM Cloud and Appbox checklist plugin/addon. Since this post, I was able to get the cloned issue to also include the desired checklist.
