Display child story progress summary on the Epic's kanban card layout

David Holman May 25, 2022

I have a kanban board just for managing my epics. If those epics are ready for work or in progress, there will be many child stories.

From the kanban board I want to have high-level visibility into the story progress as is shown on the Epic detail page.

I'll settle for any reasonable summary data: progress bar, % complete, raw counts, or any combination thereof.

Hello @David Holman

Welcome to the community.

There is no built in feature that does what you want.

You could create custom field(s) to keep track of the information, use an Automation Rule to update the custom field(s), and then display the custom field as part of the card layout for your epics, assuming you are working with a board for a Company Managed project. (Card Layout customization is not yet available for Team Managed project boards - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17336)

Thanks for the reply. I could definitely get the data in there that way. I'm was hoping to avoid the hassle of adding more custom fields and automations to my projects, but it sounds like I don't have a choice.

Seems strange that this feature would be supported for subtasks but not child stories, which are essentially subtasks of an epic.
